Aiko Nakamura"The Nightlife Ninja"
My Story
I was a music journalist in Osaka for 8 years, covering the underground music scene — punk, hip-hop, electronic. That meant I knew every back-alley bar, every late-night food stall, every place that stays open until the first train. When the magazine folded, I realized I had something more valuable than articles: a map of Osaka's real nightlife, known only to locals.
Why I Guide
Most tourists see Osaka's Dotonbori and think that's it. That's the Disneyland version. I want to show people the Osaka that comes alive after midnight — the yatai stalls where the owner remembers your name, the basement bars with 8 seats and perfect old records.
My Hidden Gem
A tiny standing bar under the train tracks near Tsuruhashi. No menu. The owner, a 68-year-old former jazz drummer, makes one cocktail per customer based on your vibe. He has never been wrong.
