My Story

I grew up in a small fishing village on the coast of Hokkaido. My father was a fisherman, my mother cooked for the crew. I spent my childhood in the mountains and on the sea — learning to read weather, track animals, and find hot springs that don't appear on any map. After a decade working as a salaryman in Sapporo, I came home. The mountains were calling.

Why I Guide

Hokkaido's nature humbles you. I want travelers to feel that humility — to stand on a volcano crater at sunrise and realize how small we are. That feeling changes people.

My Hidden Gem

💎

A secret onsen deep in the forest near Lake Toya. No facilities, no signs, no tourists. You have to hike 40 minutes through bear country to reach it. The water is milky turquoise and exactly the right temperature. I've been going there for 25 years.
